Why implement SEL in the classroom?

As an educator, you play an influential role in the lives of your students. Guiding them in developing social and emotional skills will support their current mental wellbeing and empower them for their future.

Emotional intelligence has been demonstrated to have a greater impact on life success than IQ. Teaching kids emotional awareness at a young age will provide the building blocks to thrive both inside the classroom and beyond.

The benefits of teaching SEL to your students don’t just come to fruition in the long-term—in fact, the immediate changes seen in students help to create an engaging, safe, and mindful classroom environment for both students and educators.

Students become more focused and optimistic, and learn to develop emotional regulation strategies. As a result, there are fewer instances of outbursts, bullying, and explosive reactions in classrooms.
