Terms and Conditions of Entry into "Smiling Mind x Generation GOAT Competition (Competition)
1. Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these conditions. By entering the Competition, you acknowledge that you have read these terms and conditions and that you agree to be bound by them.
2. The Promoter is Smiling Mind Ltd ABN 26 161 428 459 of 26–28 Easey St, Collingwood, VIC 3066 Australia. To contact the Promotor, please call email info@smilingmind.com.au.
3. The Competition is run in conjunction with Sony Pictures Releasing Pty Ltd (Sony Pictures). Sony Pictures is providing prizes only. Sony Pictures is not a promoter of this Competition and is not responsible for the administration of the Competition. Sony Pictures accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value following the date Sony Pictures provides prizes.
4. No entry fee or purchase is required to enter the Competition.
Competition Period
5. The "Smiling Mind x Sony GOAT competition" (Competition) start date will be 5 March 2026 at 00:01AM AEDT and end date will be 31 March 2026 at 11:59PM AEDT (Competition Period).
6. After this date, no further entries to the Competition will be permitted.
7. The Promoter reserves the right to extend or change the Competition end date, notification of winner date and publication of winner name date at any time, subject to regulatory approval, by providing reasonable notice to Entrants. The Promotor will notify Entrants of any such amendments as soon as reasonably practicable on the Competition page at www.smilingmind.com.au/goat.
8. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter does not take responsibility for any entries not received for any reason during the Competition Period, unless the entry has not been received because of the Promoter's negligence or breach of these terms and conditions.
Eligibility
9. To be eligible to enter the Competition, you must meet the eligibility requirements relevant to the Parent Competition or School Competition entered:
a. for the Parent Competition, Entrants must be:
i. aged 18 years or over;
ii. have a valid email address;
iii. not be a person described in clause 11 ;
iv. an Australian resident;
v. a parent or legal guardian of the child that they are nominating in the Parent Competition; and
vi. nominating a child that is between the age of 5 and 12-years old; and
b. for the School Competition, Entrants must be an Australian primary school (i.e. between Prep and Year 6) and the individual completing the entry must be:
i. aged 18 years or over;
ii. have a valid email address;
iii. not be a person described in clause 11;
iv. an authorised representative of the school,
(Eligible Entrants).
10. Eligible Entrants who win Prizes may be required to provide proof eligibility to redeem the Prizes.
11. The Competition is not open to:
a. employees of Promotor and their close relatives (i.e. 'close relatives' includes any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin);
b. employees of Sony Pictures and their close relatives; and
c. anyone otherwise directly connected with the administration of this Competition.
Route to Entry and How to Enter
12. To enter the Competition, an Eligible Entrant must, during the Competition Period, go to the Smiling Mind website at www.smilingmind.com.au/goat and submit an online entry form including your first name, last name, email address, state, postcode, school name (for School Competition) as well as a written answer in 50 words or less to a prompt specific to the Parent Competition regarding why the child is being nominated as the Everyday GOAT (e.g. they mow the elderly neighbor’s lawn every month), or specific to the School Competition regarding how the class has shown courage, effort or teamwork (Entrant).
13. Only one entry will be accepted per person (Parent Competition) and one entry per school (School Competition). Multiple entries will be disqualified. In the instance of multiple entries, the first entry received by date and time will be considered valid.
14. Entries received will be considered final by the Promoter.
15. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and Entrants (including an Entrant’s identity) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of these rights.
16. Incomplete, illegible and incorrect entries or entries containing offensive or defamatory comments, or which breach any law or infringe any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights, are not eligible to win.
General Conditions
17. To the extent permitted by law (including the Australian Consumer Law), the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these Terms and Conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation, or any other event outside of the Promoter’s reasonable control. Any changes to the Competition will be notified to Entrants as soon as reasonably practicable by the Promoter.
18. The Promoter is not responsible for inaccurate Prize details supplied to any Entrant by any third party connected with this Competition.
Prizes
19. Prizes – The Prizes are –
a. for the Parent Competition, the prizes are:
i. 10 x GOAT movie packs containing an Admit 4 in-season pass to see GOAT, plus GOAT movie merchandise. Each GOAT movie pack is valued at AUD $210. Total prize value for these prizes is AUD $2,100; or
ii. 5 x Sony Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones (model WH-CH720N) valued at AUD RRP $199 each. Total prize value for these prizes is AUD $995 (Parent Prizes);
b. for the School Competition, the prize is one private screening of GOAT in Australia for up to 200 people (200 pax total) valued at AUD$4,000 (School Prize). The School Prize is available between Sunday and Wednesday, excluding public holidays and school holidays. The cinema location of the School Prize will be selected by Sony Pictures as being the nearest cinema to the school that is the winner of the School Prize and is available to provide a private screening of GOAT. The day and time of the School Prize is subject to availability of the winner's screening room location. There must be at least 2 supervising adults that attend the private screening with the school children. Children under 12 must have permission from their legal guardian to attend. Legal guardians must approve their children attending the viewing the film relevant to the local classification.
20. The total value of the Prizes is AUD $7095.00 incl. GST as at the publishing date of these terms and conditions.
21. The Prizes do not include, and the Promotor and Sony Pictures will not be liable for, any costs associated with redeeming the Prizes including the cost of transporting the school community to the location of the private screening as part of the School Prize.
22. If the Prizes are not available for any reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute it with another similar item of equal or greater value if the winner agrees in writing and subject to any approvals from regulatory authorities. If the winner does not agree despite reasonable attempts by the Promoter to reach an agreement and the Prizes are not available due to circumstances beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter may substitute it with another item or items determined by the Promoter to be similar and of equal or higher value.
Winner Selection
23. All Entrants' entries will be judged individually by the Promoter based on the alignment and demonstration of the entry to everyday GOAT values namely, effort, resilience, teamwork, kindness and giving something new 'a go'. Entries will be scored by how well they align with these everyday GOAT values and the highest scoring valid entries will be selected as winners.
24. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners.
25. The Promoter’s decision in selecting the winners will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
26. Parent Competition: All Entrants for the Parent Competition will be judged based on the criteria set out in clause 23 and the best 15 valid entries of the Parent Competition will win (Parent Winners). The name of all Parent Winners will be published at www.smilingmind.com.au/goat by 8 April 2026. The top 10 entries will win the GOAT movie packs and next best 5 entries will win the Sony headphones. The Promoter will take all reasonable steps to contact the Parent Winners as set out below in clause 28.
27. School Competition: All Entrants for the School Competition will be judged based on the criteria in clause 23 and the best valid entry will be the winner (School Winner). The School Winner's name will be published at www.smilingmind.com.au/goat by 8 April 2026. The Promoter will take all reasonable steps to contact the School Winner as set out below in clause 29.
Winner Notification and Claiming Prizes
28. Parent Competition: The Parent Winners will be notified by email, phone or direct message using the details provided on the Competition entry form no later than 10 April 2026. To claim the Parent Prize, the Parent Winner must respond in writing (email) that they accept the Parent Prize.
29. School Competition: The School Winner will be notified by email, phone or direct message using the details provided on the Competition entry form no later than 10 April 2026. To claim the School Prize, the School Winner must respond in writing (email) that they accept the School Prize and agree to a date and location that suits for the School Prize pursuant to clause 19b.
Unclaimed Prizes
30. If the Parent Winners or School Winner does not respond within 7 days of being notified that they have won the relevant Competition, have responded that they do not accept the Prize, the School Winner does not agree to a date or location for the School Prize within the 7 days or the winner is not readily identified and reasonable attempts have been made by the Promoter to contact the winner, the winner will automatically forfeit their Prize and the Promoter reserves the right to select another winner by selecting the next best entry chosen based on the same criteria in clause 23.
31. The unclaimed prize winner will be notified in writing (by email) within 2 business days and their name will be published at www.smilingmind.com.au/goat by 28 April 2026.
32. The Promotor's decision in respect of any unclaimed prize winner selection will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
33. If an unclaimed prize winner does not accept the Prize within 3 days of being notified that they have won the Prize, have responded that they do not accept the Prize, does not agree to a date or location for the School Prize within the 3 days or is not readily identified and reasonable efforts have been made by the Promoter to identify the winner were unsuccessful, they will automatically forfeit the Prize.
Use of Entries and Contacting Entrants
34. By entering this Competition, Entrants consent to the Promoter:
a. contacting them in relation to their Competition entry, including where they are not selected as a winner;
b. using de-identified excerpts or quotes from entries for promotional, marketing and communication purposes, including but not limited to social media, email communications, websites and reports; and
c. No identifying information (including names, school names or personal details) will be published without additional consent.
35. The Competition and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by Australian law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the laws of Victoria.
36. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports limit, exclude or modify the liability of the Promotor or Sony Pictures in relation to the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Non-Excludable Guarantees Liability). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees Liability, the Promoter and Sony Pictures (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury, or any loss or damage that you may suffer in connection with accepting, redeeming or using the Prizes, except to the extent the loss or damage is caused by the negligence or breach of these terms and conditions by the Promotor or Sony Pictures, and the Promotor and Sony Pictures (including its respective officers, employees and agents) are not responsible for and excludes all liability for indirect or consequential loss or damage that you may suffer in connection with this Promotion including loss of opportunity, loss of profit, personal injury or property damage.
37. The personal information (PI) provided will be used in conjunction with the following Privacy Policy found at https://www.smilingmind.com.au/privacy-and-terms. You consent to the Promoter collecting and using PI that you have provided to the Promoter including in your entry in order to conduct the Competition. You warrant that you have obtained valid consent to provide to Promotor the photos, videos or other PI included in your entry about any person aged over 15 years old for the purpose of conducting the Competition and that any PI in your entry about a child 15 years or younger relates to a child in respect of which you are the parent or legal guardian. This may include disclosing such information to subsidiary and related companies, third parties, regulatory bodies including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, and any company with whom the Promoter is running the Competition. If you do not provide (or the Promotor cannot otherwise collect) all of the PI requested, you will not be eligible to receive the Prizes. Submitting an entry is also conditional on providing this PI.
38. The Privacy Policy also contains information about how you may opt out, access, update or correct your PI, how you may complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles or any other applicable law and how those complaints will be dealt with.
39. If during the entry process an Entrant has agreed to the publication of the photos, videos or information contained in their entry (collectively the "Materials") by the Promoter for the purpose of promoting the Competition and the Promoter, the Entrant:
a. agrees that the Promoter may (but is not obliged) to publish the Materials for the purpose of promoting the Competition and the Promoter including by publishing the Materials on its social media channels, without remuneration to the Entrant or any other person;
b. grants to the Promoter on creation of the Materials a royalty free, perpetual, exclusive and irrevocable licence to reproduce, publish and otherwise use the Materials for the purposes of promoting the Competition and the Promotor, including on the Promotor's social media channels, without being granted an opportunity to review or approve the Materials before they are used;
c. warrants that the use of the Materials by the Promoter will not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party;
d. they unconditionally and irrevocably consent to any act or omission of the Promoter or any person acting on its behalf that would otherwise infringe any of their moral rights (as defined in Part IX of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth)) and present and future rights of a similar nature conferred by statute anywhere in the world whether occurring before or after this consent is given ("Moral Rights") in the Materials or any performance embodied in the Materials in the course of those Materials being used for promotional purposes (including the Materials being used without identifying them, or being modified in any way);
e. to the extent permitted by law, they waive all Moral Rights they may have in the Materials or any performance embodied in the Materials that arise outside Australia; and
f. they agree not to institute, maintain or support any claim or proceeding for infringement of their Moral Rights in the Materials or any performance embodied in the Materials.
