A little practice up your sleeve

Everyday skills for all kinds of days.

Mental fitness is something we can strengthen throughout our lives. Like physical fitness, it can grow through regular practice. The skills we build can help us experience life more fully, make choices that help us move forward, savour the good and stay connected to the people around us.

Your bracelet is a simple reminder to practice one of three mental fitness skills: Notice, Flex or Connect.

Your postcard tells you more about the skill you’ve chosen and gives you a simple way to build it. Wear your bracelet, keep it somewhere you’ll spot or pass it on to someone you care about.

Meet your mental fitness skill

One of three every day skills to practise, strengthen and keep close.

Be Here Now

Notice – Be present in the moment.

When we pay attention to what's happening right now, we give ourselves the chance to really experience it: the people around us, what we're feeling and the good things we might otherwise miss.

Breath and Awareness

Stay Open

Flex – See what’s possible.

Flexible thinking gives us more ways to move forward. It helps us adapt when things change, explore different perspectives and approach challenges with curiosity and confidence.

Find Your Personal Mantra

Better Together

Connect – Connection makes us stronger.

The relationships we build and nurture are an important part of our mental fitness. Connecting, sharing experiences and showing up for the people around us can strengthen our sense of belonging and wellbeing.

The Smiling Mind app is free and full of practical, evidence-based tools to help you strengthen your mental fitness and bring these skills into everyday life.

What if every child learned these skills early?

Think about the skill you chose today. What might it have meant to start building it in primary school?

Knowing how to notice what you’re feeling, adapt well when things change and connect in ways that strengthen your relationships. These are skills many of us are still learning as adults. Smiling Mind is giving children the opportunity to start building them early.

Through our evidence-based Primary School Program, children learn practical ways to understand themselves, navigate challenges and build stronger relationships, developing skills they can carry with them throughout life. 75% of students participating experience wellbeing benefits.

In their own words:
