Kate Perkins — Workplace Program Manager

I'm passionate about helping people achieve their goals and as such have always worked in customer facing roles, spanning 18+ years.  In my career I've been extremely lucky to have worked across multiple disciplines and industries including marketing, branding, social media and did a stint in London, running and owning a small restaurant - box ticked! My main focus, however, has been relationship and account management within global talent acquisition and SaaS organisations.  Really understanding my clients needs and providing the best solutions that drive results is my main motivator.  Whether it's managing sales teams or client relationships, their success is my success.

The best thing about working at Smiling Mind…

Working for an amazing brand that's truly helping children, young people and adults navigate the daily stresses of life whether it be in the classroom, work or at home. I feel so grateful to be in this position bringing mindfulness to the main stream and the positive impacts that's having on people's wellbeing and mental health.

The biggest challenge in my role:

As in all revenue generating roles, the biggest challenge for me is reaching my target each month.  Especially knowing that the funds raised through our Workplace Program are needed to support our goal of reaching 5M young people by 2021.  This is a challenge but also a huge privilege.

If I wasn’t working at Smiling Mind I’d…

Some other mindfulness or wellness organisation, nationally or globally.

What I do when I’m not at work:

If you'd asked me that question not even 5 years ago the answer would have been very different but now all I'm focused on is learning and developing my understanding of human behaviour, neuroscience and mindfulness with a view to people being able to live to their full potential. I also love spending time with friends and my beautiful rescue Staffy, being in nature as much as I can.

Meditation has…

Totally elevated the level of understanding of myself and the World around me.  Like re-focusing the lens on a camera, I've got so much more clarity and find even more joy in the simple things, not sweating the small or big stuff anymore.

My favourite inspirational quote:

“The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.”
